PolyDowel™ – 3/8 in CFRTP Tapered Plate Dowel

Equivalent joint performance to steel, noncorrosive without stainless steel, at only 20% of the weight.

PolyDowel™ 3/8 in is a CFRTP tapered plate dowel qualified as a direct structural replacement for 3/8 in steel tapered plate dowels in concrete slabs 5–8 in thick. Full-scale joint testing demonstrates equivalent load-transfer capacity and service-range stiffness, with approximately 20% of the weight and no corrosion risk.

Compatible with standard 3/8 in pocket formers and ReForm’s reusable cavity former system (coming soon).

Available by PO, with volume pricing and distributor terms upon request.

Description:

Equivalent joint performance to steel, noncorrosive without stainless steel, at only 20% of the weight.

PolyDowel™ 3/8 in is a CFRTP tapered plate dowel qualified as a direct structural replacement for 3/8 in steel tapered plate dowels in concrete slabs 5–8 in thick. Full-scale joint testing demonstrates equivalent load-transfer performance and service-range stiffness at approximately 20% of the weight, with no corrosion risk.

Compatible with industry-standard 3/8 in tapered plate dowel pocket formers. A reusable cavity former system is in development.

Made in the USA.

Why PolyDowel™:

  • Direct replacement for steel: Qualified to deliver equivalent joint performance using standard tapered plate dowel practice.
  • Approximately 80% lighter than steel: Lower freight cost, safer handling, and faster placement.
  • Noncorrosive: Will not rust, seize, expand, or damage surrounding concrete over time.
  • Preserves long-term joint performance: Maintains intended joint movement without corrosion-driven locking or stiffness changes.
  • Nonmetallic and nonconductive: Suitable for medical facilities, data centers, embedded sensors, and electrically sensitive environments.
  • Sustainable by design: Reduces steel use while supporting long service life and recyclable material pathways.
